This gorgeous, original stone house is older than America herself! Built in 1770, this home has been tastefully updated, while still maintaining the integrity and beauty of the old structure and unique, original features. Enjoy premium bedding, fantastic views of the neighboring Amish farm from your windows, a private, wrap-around porch that overlooks the property’s stream off the master suite, and a large yard with a fire pit. All just minutes from Lancaster County's most popular attractions!
Our guests have exclusive access to the entire 5 bedroom house, including a small "library" and two complete kitchens/dining rooms! Access to a private wrap-around balcony off of the master suite that overlooks the property's stream and offers exclusive views of the neighboring Amish farm. Guests may use the stream, covered back porch, 1.5 acres of lawn, and fire pit. Guests may enjoy watching the chickens in the chicken coop off the side of the house, though we do ask that guests not enter the coop. We are pleased to provide guests with farm fresh eggs stocked in the refrigerator. Additionally, there is a small garden on the property, where you are welcome to gather fresh produce for your personal use (both eggs and produce offered only seasonally, as available).
A stay at this house offers you the opportunity to experience the history and quiet, peaceful lifestyle that many visitors to Lancaster County only get to appreciate from a distance. This incredible house was built by one of the original settlers who made his living milling wheat in the stone mill next door. We have many old, original documents, deeds, photographs, and stories passed down through the generations of this historic property that will be available in the house for those guests that have interest.
This home is fully equipped to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people. If you are interested in booking for a group larger than 10, please contact me prior to booking with the number of guests. These requests will be approved on a case by case basis.
We are proud to offer this quiet escape just minutes from Drumore Estate, downtown Lancaster and Central Market, Sight & Sound Theatre, Rockvale & Tanger Outlets, the historic Strasburg Railroad, and all the rest of Lancaster County's most popular tourist attractions!
Your stay in this home includes an authentic, Amish-made shoofly pie, Lancaster County Coffee Roasters coffee, luxury linens and towels, s’more ingredients (supplied from September 1st-December 31st), and so much more!
Additional services offered:
We are pleased to offer this house as “Boutique Style”, meaning that the home is largely decorated with handmade artwork and home decor items from local artist and artisans. These items are available for sale exclusively to our guests, directly out of the house! Purchase souvenirs that you love out of the house, or simply enjoy vacationing in a place decorated with local Lancaster County talent.
Grocery service: you select and pay for your groceries online. We pick them up at the grocery store and put them away in the house. You arrive to a home stocked with all the groceries you need and chose! Contact me either before booking, or after, to utilize this service. Cost: $25 service fee
Special occasion decorating service: celebrating a birthday, anniversary, graduation, wedding, or other occasion? We will decorate the home with balloons, flowers, cake, streamers, whatever you want! We will work closely with you to make sure you’re getting what you want, and you get to surprise your guest of honor by checking-in to a house that’s already decorated! Cost: cost of products plus a $50 service fee
Fire wood: Many guests enjoy having a campfire by the stream and enjoy the convenience of having unlimited firewood on site. While your first bundle of firewood is complimentary with your reservation, additional bundles are available for $5 per bundle
Other information:
Our guests determine their own level of interaction. We will provide a book filled with information on area attractions and exclusive "local’s spots". Beyond that, we are happy to chat, engage, and assist you in any way you'd like, or to allow you privacy to explore on your own.
Please note that hosts will require access to the home twice per day (morning and evening) to tend to the coal stove during cold months.
Please keep in mind that this house has a number of stairs and may not be suitable for those less physically capable. While we provide baby gates for the stairs, the house is not fully "child-proofed". Additionally, during the winter months the coal stove in the kitchen could pose a burn hazard to young children. For those reasons this house is not recommended for children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years. Although we do not specifically exclude families with children in this range, please be aware that if you choose to book with us, you do so at your own risk.
